It’s kinda funny that just 2 weeks ago, Where There’s Smoke did a show talking about beginnings, and in this episode, Brett is going to share an ending. When this episode went live, Nick was literally driving across the United States, back to his home in St Louis. And Brett was about to board a flight, leaving San Francisco after almost 19 years of calling it home.
And yet as they both departed Northern California for separate destinations – they were crafting an episode about community. What it is, why it matters, how we embrace it, and also… how to let it go.
Community is a living organism, it’s always changing. And so perhaps it’s appropriate that this entire episode, from writing to recording to editing, was produced in a constant state of moving. Yet as miles were traveled, and distances expanded, our community might have bent a little bit, but it never broke. And in fact, in our case, it grew.
We are also joined by International Educator, Jeff Utecht. He expands on some of the ideas he spoke about in his TEDx Talk, Community Trumps Content; and helps us to sort through some how technology has helped it evolve and grow.
Very Special Thanks to Paige Loczi for sharing in this episode.
